Foot care for those who exercise

Here you get good advice and tips from Carola Richardson, medical podiatrist who is passionate about good foot health.

Athlete's foot, nail fungus and cracked heels. It may not sound like a huge problem, but for the person affected it is very painful and something that is reminded at every step. But it is quite easy to counter.

- It is so important to take care of your feet, they will carry us throughout your life, but at the same time they are easy to forget. Once you have started to have problems, patience, the right efforts and good products are required to get rid of them. There is a big profit in doing the right thing from the beginning, for example to be able to avoid strong drugs, says Carola Richardson, who also holds courses for podiatrists about nail and skin fungus. In recent years, in her professional practice, she has seen an increase in, above all, foot and nail fungus. - I think it may be because we exercise and do more sports. It is also twice as common in men. The absolute greatest risk of infection is found in public showers and bathhouses. It is warm and humid there, the fungal spores thrive in that environment and the infection spreads easily.

This way you get healthy and beautiful feet

  • Regular foot baths, preferably with BIOpH Footcare, which treats and builds healthy feet.
  • Lubricate with a foot salve with good ingredients.
  • Do not file and sand too much, it triggers the skin to create calluses.
  • Do regular foot care with a medical podiatrist. The first step to healthy feet
  • The first step to healthy feet

Taking care of your feet has never been easier. Regular foot baths with BIOpH lay the foundation for avoiding problems and provide positive results for those who have problems with, for example, athlete's foot, heel cracks and calluses.

It is almost impossible to see with the naked eye that, for example, dry feet and flaky patches of skin are fungi, the symptoms are similar to both eczema and psoriasis. A first step is to use BIOpH Footcare. The foot bath relieves the symptoms regardless of whether the person has fungus or not. BIOpH is effective, biodegradable and a safe product with no side effects, all according to clinical studies. Many people who see symptoms of what they believe to be fungus begin treating with medication on their own. But it will be ineffective if it is not actually a fungus and the result is that you have used strong remedies unnecessarily with the risks of side effects that medicines entail.

- I'm really passionate about this fungus, says Carola Richardson, who also trains future podiatrists about athlete's foot.

- It is so important to act immediately so that the problems do not develop into moccasin fungus that covers the entire sole of the foot or goes up into the nails.
She explains that the fungus is a parasite that significantly deteriorates the quality of the skin and can also lead to cracks. With BIOpH medical technology products for foot care, you relieve the symptoms regardless of whether you have athlete's foot or not. If you do not get the desired effect after regular use, it may be good to get a diagnosis. It is relatively easy to do, either with a so-called DNA test at a medical podiatrist or with a culture at the health center.

- My most important advice is to keep the skin on the feet healthy and likewise the nails. Take a therapeutic foot bath, file appropriately and lubricate with a good foot ointment - that's the basis. If you still have problems, seek help from a medical podiatrist.

Healthy feet for those who exercise

As an athlete or exerciser, you expose your feet to stress. The feet are our real heroes and carry us on average four laps around the globe in a lifetime. For feet that exercise a lot, there will also be extra stress.

Of course, there is everything to be gained from exercising – your health improves, you become fitter, happier and have more stamina. At the same time, it wears on the body and especially the feet take a lot of beating in many sports. In order to spare the feet as much as possible, the key is to use the right shoes adapted for the purpose.

- We put our feet under a lot of stress when, for example, we run and practice sports. In our profession, we see a lot of abused feet and toes in athletes and those who exercise a lot, says Carola Richardson, medical podiatrist.

She states that the most important thing is precisely the shoes or whatever you wear on your feet when you practice your sport - hard skates and boots can also cause it. But the environment also plays a role.

- As an athlete, you expose yourself to a lot of infection from, for example, athlete's foot because the amount of particles is large in environments such as gyms, sports halls, showers and bathhouses.
Athlete's foot is called athlete's foot in English and that is a telling description. Bacteria also form in shoes and socks and it is important to wash the socks often and alternate between different shoes.

- BIOpH+ Washing powder is effective even at low temperatures. Because it kills the bacteria, which also cause bad smell, it is good for socks and sportswear in functional materials that can get a musty smell after a while of use. It is also biodegradable in nature.
Carola Richardson recommends everyone to take medical foot care treatment regularly, how often depends on the status of your feet. She emphasizes that you should not experiment yourself with ingrown toenails and blue nails, which can cause permanent problems.

- If you don't take care of your damaged nails, it's easy to get a so-called map nail, when the nail becomes thick and often discolored. It is because the nail system is damaged and is tricky to deal with, but a podiatrist can grind the nail which is supplemented by own treatment with nail oil.

Good advice for feet that do sports and exercise

- Use bath slippers in showers and changing rooms.

- Take care of socks and shoes - wash and disinfect with BIOpH Washing powder and spray the shoes with BIOpH Shoe spray and alternate between different shoes.

- Bad odors are caused by bacteria. With BIOpH Washing powder, you can wash socks and sportswear at a low temperature and still kill bacteria that cause bad odors.

- Do not experiment yourself with cuticles and blue nails. See a medical podiatrist regularly who can treat and advise.

- Pressure and blows can damage the nail root, which then risks developing into an ingrown toenail. Then the nail system is damaged and it can be difficult to deal with. You get the best help from a podiatrist supplemented with nail oil as self-care.

- Take care of your feet with regular foot baths with BIOpH, lubricate and keep skin and nails healthy.
